Situated in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains overlooking Monterey Bay and only 33 miles from the high-tech hub of Silicon Valley, the University of California at Santa Cruz is an ideal setting for educational pursuits. Known for a strong interdisciplinary focus and innovative approach to teaching, the university is comprised of several colleges, each a distinct residential community within this major research institution. Students enjoy the redwood trees and ocean views while traversing the spacious and scenic campus. The temperate climate provides a comfortable living and learning environment, providing good opportunities for field study and research. About 200 students and 50 staff are expected to attend each session.
