Young Students Programs, Grades 2-6

CTY offers day programs for grades 2-6 and residential programs for grades 5-6. Please click on the links below for more information about each of these gifted and talented programs, including eligibility requirements, catalog information, and program dates.

2019 Program Dates

First session:

June 23 – July 12  (residential sites and the West L.A. day site)
June 30 – July 19 (domestic day sites except West L.A.)
July 7 – July 26 (Hong Kong day site)

Second session:

July 14 – August 2 (residential sites and the West L.A. day site)
July 21 – August 9 (domestic day sites except West L.A.)


Programs for Grades 2-4

CTY offers summer day programs for qualified students who have completed grades 2-4 in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area and New York City, as well as in La Jolla, Los Angeles, and San Mateo, California. Eligibility for these programs is based on the last grade the student has completed, as well as the student's score on the CTY-administered SCAT test.

One-Week Programs at Day Site Locations: CTY is excited to offer one-week courses at the Baltimore and Sandy Spring sites in Maryland, the Alexandria site in Virginia, and the La Jolla site in California. These courses, for students who have completed grades 2-4, provide an excellent introductory CTY experience. Learn more about One-Week Courses.

Programs for Grades 5-6

CTY offers summer residential and day programs on the East and West Coasts for qualified students who have completed grades 5-6. Day site locations (which also include classes for students who have completed grades 2-4) are in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area and New York City, as well as in La Jolla, Los Angeles, and San Mateo, California. Eligibility for the program is based on the last grade the student has completed, as well as the student's score on the CTY-administered SCAT and/or STB tests.
