About the Course

The Ancient World: Ancient Egypt

Between 3000 BCE and 500 CE, influential civilizations left lasting legacies that continue to shape our world today. In this course, we'll focus specifically on Ancient Egypt, exploring its distinctive geography, daily life, social structures, government, economy, and religion. We’ll discover the mysteries of pharaohs' tombs, who built the great pyramids, the significance of Egyptian symbols and myths, and the artistic achievements that define this remarkable civilization. Through historical accounts, myths, legends, and arts, you'll build critical thinking and research skills, gaining a deep appreciation for the richness and impact of Ancient Egyptian civilization.

Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week (90 minutes of synchronous class time, 1-2 hours of independent work). Course will include 6 sessions over 6 weeks

This course uses a virtual classroom for instructor-student communication. The classroom works on standard computers with the Zoom desktop client, and on tablets or handhelds that support the Zoom Mobile app. Recorded meetings can only be viewed on a computer with the Zoom desktop client installed. The Zoom desktop client and Zoom Mobile App are both free to download.
