About the Course

Logic and Proofs: Fundamentals

Through engaging symbolic logic puzzles, Sudoku challenges, thought-provoking problems, and real-world applications, this course introduces advanced mathematical concepts that challenge the mind. Students will uncover patterns, construct logical arguments, and develop problem-solving strategies that prepare them for high school and college-level logic coursework. We’ll examine the basic concepts of logic, quantifying statements, logical connectives, and quantifiers to transform everyday statements into logical forms that we can attempt to prove or disprove. Logic puzzles, adaptive world arguments, peer collaboration, and feedback, will strengthen our understanding of mathematics and sharpen our problem-solving skills as we delve into these key mathematical ideas.

Time commitment: 2.5-3.5 hours per week (1.5 hours of class time, 1-2 hours of independent work). Course will include 3 sessions over 3 weeks.
