About the Course

Diverse Voices in Science

  • Grades 7-10
  • CTY-Level
  • LIVE

Science provides us a fascinating view into understanding the world and each other, but it is shrouded in a long history of systemic racial and gender bias. In this course, you’ll explore the history of scientific racism and sexism and how that history continues to shape scientific discourse today. By examining scientific discoveries and practices through a social justice lens, you’ll explore the influence of science on society, analyze biases in scientific research and practices, and develop a basic understanding of scientific concepts and theories while learning about the contributions of scientists that are historically excluded.
