Celebrate Pi Day with CTY

Pi Day (3.14) is our favorite holiday. Not only do we celebrate math and pi(e), we also celebrate CTY’s mission to support advanced learners.

Your Pi Day contribution to CTY helps make a difference in the lives of advanced learners through research, programs, and other supports. With your help, CTY can reach students from across the country and around the world to build a global community.

Smart Kids, Testing, and Labels. Oh My!

You have a hunch that your child is an advanced learner but are unsure of what to do next. Testing can be one useful way to collect information—to identify your child’s academic strengths and potential areas of improvement, and to help connect them with experiences that fit their interests, skills, strengths, and weaknesses. Join CTY executive director Amy Lynne Shelton, PhD and director of research Kathryn Thompson, PhD for a discussion about the benefits and drawbacks of standardized testing, and how to use test results to advocate and choose fulfilling experiences for your bright child.

Cooke Young Scholars Application Workshop

Families of advanced learners in the 7th grade are invited to a workshop to review the application process for the Cooke Young Scholars Program, a five-year, pre-college scholarship that includes planning and goal-setting, funding for academic and extracurricular opportunities, annual summer programs, and peer networking. We will review the application in detail to help families understand key points to completing and submitting an application by the deadline date so that their child can be considered for this opportunity. Families will have the opportunity to ask questions about the application process.
