About the Course

Strengthen your analytical and problem-solving skills in this challenging course that's designed for students with little to no previous math competition experience at the middle school level (we also encourage highly motivated fifth graders to enroll). You'll cover integers, number theory, ratios, proportions, fractions, variables, equations, inequalities, probability, introductory statistics, and much more through lessons sample problems, mini competitions, and videos designed to challenge and motivate you. Timed assessments will help you build experience for real tournaments, and weekly synchronous strategy sessions from a CTY instructor will guide you and other students through competition tactics. Recommended length of enrollment: 3 months Strategy Session Meeting Times (optional): Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET Time Commitment: 3-6 hours per week (1-hour optional meeting, 3-5 hours of independent work). Course Overview Learning Objectives: Identify and solve competition-style problems quickly in a timed environment, at the MOEMS and MATHCOUNTS levels, covering topics in pre-algebra, number theory, counting and probability, and geometry Articulate the steps of your problem-solving process About Extreme Acceleration Courses These courses offer topics condensed into a highly concentrated and accelerated learning experience.
