About the Course

Good problem-solving strategies can help us deal with a wide range of problems we encounter in all facets of our lives. In this course, we'll explore diagrams and physical representations and strengthen your ability to use these strategies to solve complex problems. Then you'll demonstrate what you've learned by creating your own original problem and writing a solution that shows how the problem can be solved by using one, or both, of the strategies. You'll also have fun solving the problems your classmates create and challenging them to solve your own.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe, identify, and use diagram-drawing strategies to solve math problems
  • Describe, identify, and use physical representations to solve math problems
  • Write original math problems that can be solved by using physical representations and drawing diagrams
