About the Course
Put on your thinking cap and begin studying forensic science, starting with historical perspectives about the use of forensics to investigate and solve crimes. We’ll review the history and development of forensics, crime-scene evaluation, and the crime lab. We’ll also trace evidence, impressions, fingerprints, blood, and DNA as you work with classmates to design a crime scene, participate in hands-on activities, communicate in online forums, and much more. Along the way, you’ll learn about the skills, equipment, and technology used to analyze physical evidence while reinforcing your understanding of the scientific process.
The content in Introduction to Crime Scene Investigation overlaps with the CTY course Introduction to Forensics. Students who have already taken Introduction to Forensics may wish to consult with an enrollment advisor before selecting this course.
