About the Course
Tackle lessons typically offered in a full year of honors math curriculum in this intensive course that offers a review of Grade 3 topics and prepares you for Grade 5 mathematics. Engage with videos, interactive webpages, graded assessments, and projects. You’ll develop mathematical reasoning, learn critical thinking skills, and acquire problem-solving techniques to investigate and explore challenging math concepts for Grade 4 and beyond.
Your assigned CTY instructor will be available for learning support and one-on-one review sessions.
Learning Objectives
- Apply your understanding of fractions to find equivalent fractions, simplify fractions, and perform operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Utilize basic number theory concepts such as prime numbers, factors, and multiples to perform operations with fractions
- Create, read, and interpret data displays including line plots, bar graphs, and histograms
- Define and describe two-dimensional shapes according to lines and angles
- Solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, mass, and money
- Perform conversions within customary and metric units of measurement
About Extreme Acceleration courses
These courses offer topics condensed into a highly concentrated and accelerated learning experience, and are best suited for advanced learners craving a truly intensive challenge. In online Extreme Acceleration courses, students progress at their own pace with guidance from instructors. Students work individually and may finish the course early if they complete all requirements before the course end date.
