Course Completion and Content Retention

All courses must be completed by their scheduled end date. Extensions are not granted, and access to course materials ends when the course concludes.

Before the course ends, students are strongly encouraged to download and save assignments, instructor feedback, and course materials they wish to keep as access will be unavailable afterward.

Students enrolled in in-person courses will not have digital access to their work, and CTY does not provide electronic copies of classwork completed onsite.

Accommodations for Students with Disabilities

CTY is committed to providing appropriate accommodations for qualified students with documented learning, physical, dietary, or medical needs in online and in-person programs. Information to request accommodations or support is available through Disability Services.

CTY has transitioned to a new accommodations system, AIM, which families can access to submit documentation and request support.

All 1:1 aides must undergo background checks as outlined in the aide agreement.

Expectations for Student Conduct

CTY provides unique opportunities for advanced learners from diverse backgrounds to come together in pursuit of academic challenge and growth, within a supportive community built on respect, responsibility, and trust. In order to create and sustain such a community, students attending CTY must follow the expectations outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.

Refund Policy

CTY’s refund policy is determined by the timing of the withdrawal request. Refund eligibility varies depending on when the request is received and the type of program in which a student is enrolled.

In most cases, a percentage of tuition may be refunded if the request is submitted prior to specific deadlines.

Full tuition and non-registration fees are fully refundable only in the following circumstances:

  • If a student withdraws for a medical reason and provides CTY with appropriate documentation from a physician. Medical withdrawal refunds occurring during the program will be granted on a pro-rated basis.
  • If CTY cancels the program or closes a site for any reason prior to the start of the course, all non-registration tuition and fees will be refunded.

Registration fees are non-refundable.

Academic Credit and Placement

CTY does not provide academic credit. Families must work directly with their school to negotiate whether the school will accept a CTY course for school course credit or school placement into a higher-level course. CTY courses are either graded or ungraded and this detail is displayed on individual course descriptions.

CTY can provide families seeking academic credit or placement from their school with limited documentation at the end of their child’s course: a course completion document, which includes a course evaluation, and an official academic record. This documentation may be insufficient for some schools, so families are strongly encouraged to work with their school in advance of enrollment.

Grade Policy

CTY courses are either graded or ungraded and this detail is displayed on individual course descriptions. Please note that CTY cannot accommodate requests to issue grades for ungraded courses. Learn more about course grades.

July 4 Holiday Policy (In-Person Programming Only)

CTY’s in-person programs observe July 4 as follows:

  • Residential sites: Classes and activities will continue as scheduled. The site may host a special celebration in recognition of the holiday.
  • Day sites: Classes do not meet on July 4.
