Civic Leadership Institute Catalog

The Center for Talented Youth (CTY) Civic Leadership Institute is a three-week summer service-learning program for outstanding high school students in grades 9 through 12. The program combines hands-on education, meaningful service, powerful speakers and seminars, and an unforgettable residential experience for a summer that students describe as “life changing.” A powerful capstone experience, CLI offers excellent preparation for college and careers, and allows students to develop the leadership skills they need to make a difference in the world.

For 40 years, CTY summer programs have provided students with exceptional academic abilities the opportunity to develop those skills to the highest possible level. The CTY Civic Leadership Institute builds upon that tradition by challenging gifted high school students not only to develop their own talents, but also to use their potential to contribute to the betterment of their communities.

The CTY Civic Leadership Institute was created in partnership with the Civic Education Project, an award-winning service-learning program based at Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development.
