SET alumna Miriam Melnick is a software engineer at Google. Miriam’s connections to CTY run deep: She is married to CTY alum and fellow Google engineer Marc Howard, and together, they created an Advanced Robotics course for CTY and spend three weeks every summer teaching it.
"At Google, all employees get to use 20 percent of their time to work on a project that benefits the company but doesn’t directly relate to their core job. I lead tours of middle and high school students at Google and run interactive workshops to show them that they too can code. I also take off a few weeks each summer to teach an Advanced Robotics course at CTY, which I co-developed. I love having the opportunity to meet teenagers who are thinking about their futures and to show them that programming is not magic; it's a tool they can learn and use to solve problems they care about."
