Spanish Language Club

Welcome to the club! CTY's World Languages Club gives students interested in exploring the Spanish language an opportunity to come together and learn in a community setting. Through forum discussion and live sessions using assigned words related to each week's theme, students will expand their vocabulary, become more fluent and accurate when speaking their target language, and learn to demonstrate culturally appropriate body language and tone while speaking. This club has synchronous virtual meetings, and participation is highly encouraged.

Note: CTY clubs give students a chance to interact as a group rather than individual time working with a club advisor. Curricular content will be introduced, but is not meant to replace or be considered a core piece of any course that CTY offers.

Meeting times: Monday, Wednesday – 6-7 p.m. ET

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per week (2 hours of class time, 1-2 hours of independent work).

Students must achieve qualifying scores on an advanced assessment to be eligible for CTY programs. If you don’t have qualifying scores, you have several different testing options. We’ll help you find the right option for your situation.

Technical Requirements

This course requires a computer with high-speed Internet access and an up-to-date web browser such as Chrome or Firefox. You must be able to communicate with the instructor via email. Visit the Technical Requirements and Support page for more details.

This course uses a virtual classroom for instructor-student communication. The classroom works on standard computers with the Zoom desktop client, and on tablets or handhelds that support the Zoom Mobile app. Recorded meetings can only be viewed on a computer with the Zoom desktop client installed. The Zoom desktop client and Zoom Mobile App are both free to download.

Terms & Conditions

Each week, students read and discuss a new STEM topic and learn a foundational element of the writing process. Through interactive live sessions with peers, real-world discussion topics, and scaffolded activities, students enhance their writing skills one step at a time.
