Interdisciplinary STEAM Research Writing

Strengthen your Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) research writing skills, and prepare for the terminology used in a host of AP courses. You’ll read STEAM research texts and practice related vocabulary, become familiar with research presentation styles and techniques and analyzing audio content, and learn how to analyze research papers based on validity, reliability, accuracy, bias, and ethics. And you’ll learn how to apply terms in writing as well as how to conduct primary and secondary research using reliable sources.
Assignments will include identifying the major components of a research paper and oral research presentation and writing your own. By the end of the course, you will have the skills to develop a literature review, research proposal, research presentation, and research paper, and critique the work of others.

Tuesday – 7-8 a.m. ET
OR
Wednesday – 8-9 p.m. ET
Time Commitment: 6-8 hours per week (1 hour of class time, 5-7 hours independent work).

Technical Requirements
This course requires a computer with high-speed Internet access and an up-to-date web browser such as Chrome or Firefox. You must be able to communicate with the instructor via email. Visit the Technical Requirements and Support page for more details.
This course uses a virtual classroom for instructor-student communication. The classroom works on standard computers with the Zoom desktop client, and on tablets or handhelds that support the Zoom Mobile app. Recorded meetings can only be viewed on a computer with the Zoom desktop client installed. The Zoom desktop client and Zoom Mobile App are both free to download.
Most course lectures may be viewed on mobile devices, but some assignments and quizzes must be completed on a desktop or laptop computer.
This course uses Respondus LockDown Browser proctoring software for designated assessments. LockDown Browser is a client application that is installed to a local computer. Visit the Respondus website for system requirements.
