Advanced Scratch Programming
- Grades 3-8
Build on your foundation of Scratch fundamentals with guidance through challenging programming concepts. In this course you’ll apply your existing knowledge to new ways of thinking about Scratch, creating intricate animations and games using complex logic and program design, developing your skills while learning about lists, defining procedures, using webcam sensing, and debugging problematic code. You’ll also examine graphic art and digital music in computers to think artistically and creatively about computer programming and design.
Along with traditional lessons such as a brief history of computer graphics and human-computer interaction, you’ll practice and demonstrate your knowledge through assignments, quizzes, a midterm project, and a final project.
Enrollment and tuition are time-based—students may enroll in a course by selecting an open class below. Students will progress at their own pace, with guidance from instructors who strive to meet individual needs. Note: You will need to have an active CTY Account to complete registration through MyCTY.

Students will need access to a webcam for this course and Scratch Programming software.
This course requires a properly maintained computer with high-speed internet access and an up-to-date web browser (such as Chrome or Firefox). The student must be able to communicate with the instructor via email.
The classroom works on standard computers with the Zoom desktop client and also tablets or handhelds that support the Zoom Mobile app. Students will need the Zoom desktop client installed to watch any recorded meetings. The Zoom desktop client and Zoom Mobile App are both available for free download.
