What's New at CTY

Robotics BoyNew summer day sites in three cities, a cultural tour of Peru, and a monster of an online reading class are some of what’s new at CTY this summer.

CTY’s first day site for young students in the San Francisco Bay area is currently accepting applications for summer 2015.  Located at The Nueva School’s Bay Meadow campus in San Mateo, the program offers a wide variety of courses for students in grades 2 through 6. Learn more about them.

This summer CTY will also open a new day site in Hong Kong for students in grades 2 through 6 at The Independent School Foundation Academy, complementing the existing program at the University of Hong Kong for students in grades 7-10. CTY will offer courses in mathematics, science, and writing for up to 450 students at these two sites. Find out more.

Also new this summer, CTY’s popular day site in New York City for students in grades 2 through 6 has relocated to the Speyer Legacy School on New York’s West Side.  CTY NYC will take place during session two only, July 19-August 7.

CTY Family Academic Programs’ popular educational family travel programs include a one-week cultural adventure in Peru and Machu Picchu August 1-7.

Families start their travel by exploring Cuzco and its blend of Inca and Spanish architecture, learning about Peruvian ceramics and weaving, and taking a whitewater rafting trip down the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley. At Macchu Picchu they’ll hike the sacred summit of Huayna Picchu and enjoy the view. Back in Cuzco, they’ll explore artisans’ shops and meet with a local family to learn the secrets of Peruvian cooking.

There are a bevy of new online courses at CTY this year. For starters, consider Monsters, Magic, and Mayhem, a Young Adult Readers' Series course for students in grades 7 through 9 in which students read the first book of several different series from a variety of literary genres and all containing teenagers confronting, well, monsters, magic, and mayhem.

Other new online courses include Honors Grade 4 Mathematics, AP Spanish Literature and Culture, and many new Arabic, Chinese, and Spanish courses. Discover more online courses at CTY.

New CTY summer courses include Introduction to Organic Chemistry and Advanced Cryptology, which are both for Intensive Studies students in grades 7 and above.

CTY’s one-week summer courses for students in grades 2 through 4, Science Spoilers and Toyology, will be offered at our two Maryland day sites in Sandy Spring and Brooklandville.
