Site Nurse - Day

The site nurse is responsible for overseeing medical issues at the site. The position is both administrative and clinical. Primary duties include processing student medical forms; dispensing prescription and nonprescription medications students bring with them to the site; conferring with parents; assessing and treating student illnesses and injuries; recording student health information using CTY’s online system; making referrals and acting as a liaison to nearby clinics, physician's offices, and/or hospitals. At some day sites, health assistants may assist with the responsibilities of record-keeping and clerical duties, communicating with parents, providing basic first aid for minor student injuries and illnesses, and the distribution of medication.

Terms of Employment

  • Starting salary ranges from $7,000 to $8,600, depending on experience, for a seven-week period
  • Employees are responsible for providing their travel to and from program locations

Desired Qualifications

  • Degree in nursing
  • RN or APRN strongly preferred
  • Licensure or certification in school nursing (NCSN)
  • Ability to train staff on health issues
  • Ability to work well with children
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • General computer literacy and ability to use a database for recordkeeping
  • Experience in a camp setting
