About the Course

Strengthen your analytical and problem-solving skills in this challenging course designed for students with little to no previous math competition experience. You'll learn 12 different problem-solving strategies for becoming a more efficient problem solver and a stronger competitor. You'll practice these strategies through lessons, sample problems, mini competitions, and videos designed to challenge and motivate you. Timed assessments will also help you build experience for real competitions, and weekly synchronous strategy sessions with a CTY instructor will guide you and your classmates through competition tactics. Recommended length of enrollment: 3 months Strategy Session Meeting Times (optional): Tuesday at 7-8 p.m. ET Time Commitment: 3-6 hours per week (1-hour optional meeting, 3-5 hours of independent work). Course Overview Learning Objectives: Solve problems at the MOEMS level in a timed environment using the strategies introduced in the course Articulate the steps of your problem-solving process
