Speakers Series Webinar: Sifting Through Special Collections

Thu. Sep 24, 2020 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Online - Eastern Time

Join Sam Bessen, an Assistant Curator in the Johns Hopkins University Libraries, as he dives into the hundreds of thousands of special collections waiting to be discovered at JHU.

Using the Lester Levy Sheet Music Collection, Sam will discuss the importance of primary documents and examine how they’re stored, studied, and contextualized for meaning. He’ll also share what a typical day looks like for a curator, whether it’s uncovering Amelia Earhart’s signature or exploring the “cage”—a giant warehouse that lies six stories beneath the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus.

This event will also be recorded and posted at a later date.
