2012 CTY Distinguished Alumni Award

John Overdeck is the co-founder and co-chairman of Two Sigma Investments LLC, a finance and technology firm headquartered in New York City. Previously, Mr. Overdeck was a vice president with Amazon.com and a senior officer of D.E. Shaw & Co. He is a trustee of the Museum of Mathematics and sits on the Advisory Board for the Robin Hood X Prize, a global competition identifying new approaches to fighting poverty. He received BS in mathematics from Stanford University, where he continued his studies as a doctoral candidate in statistics. As a member of the Julian C. Stanley Study for Exceptional Talent, Mr. Overdeck attended four CTY Summer Programs between 1981 and 1984, before joining CTY as an instructor. He was also instrumental in strengthening CTY’s alumni network. In addition, he was a 1986 International Mathematics Olympiad Silver Medalist.

 

CTrimbleCornelia Trimble, MD is the director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Cervical Dysplasia at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center in Baltimore. Dr. Trimble is also an associate professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In January, The Daily Record honored her as one of their 2012 Influential Marylanders. She earned a BSE in Civil Engineering and a BA in International relations from Princeton University, a MD from Vanderbilt University, and a MA from Johns Hopkins University’s Writing Seminars. Dr. Trimble was an early participant in Julian Stanley’s groundbreaking Study of Mathematically Precocious Youth, the predecessor to CTY.
