Making Connections through CTY

Parents, you’ve told us you’d like to find more ways to meet and network with other CTY families. We’ve heard you! Here are a few ways to do just that.

Awards Ceremonies
CTY Awards Ceremonies recognize students who are high scorers in our annual Talent Search and who reside in one of 20 states where we host the ceremonies each fall.  Click for specifics.  Invitations with specific ceremony information will be mailed in August 2010.  Click here to see what these events mean to our students.  Parent volunteers can help us make them a success by serving as a Head Registrar or registrar.

Family Academic Programs
Through Family Academic Programs, CTY offers approximately 75 one-day, overnight and multi-day events annually to Talent Search participants in grades 2-12. Our programs are designed for students and parents to attend together and are open to all CTY Talent Search participants. Host locations, predominantly concentrated in the mid-Atlantic, northeast, and on the west coast, include colleges and universities, research institutions, museums, science and nature centers and aquariums. Use the links below to learn about the program series that best fits your child’s age and interests.

• Creative Connections Series (Grades 2 through 4) Imaginative and interactive opportunities designed to meet the needs of our youngest students
  
• Discovery Series (Grades 5 through 7) Experts guide our middle-grades students and their families through some of the most popular educational attractions in the country
  
• Odyssey Series (Grades 7 through 10) In-depth exposure to the liberal arts for college-bound middle- and high school students
  
• Science and Technology Series (Grades 7 through 10) Headline-grabbing advances in science and technology explained by leading researchers
  
• Pathways to College Series (Grades 9 through 12) Everything you want to know about some of the best colleges in the country on-site with faculty, students and other university professionals

Dive in...
There are many ways you can volunteer with CTY and meet other families in the process. These include…

• giving a helping hand at CTY Awards Ceremonies.
• hosting or helping with a CTY Talent Search Information Meeting.
• helping out with a CTY Family Academic Program.
• hosting an event for local families
• conversing with prospective CTY families one-one-one online or over the phone.
• contributing a first-hand narrative about raising a gifted child.
• strengthening your child’s school and parent groups’ ties to CTY.
• becoming a Parent Network Volunteer.  Complete and return the registration form.
