Nomination Guidelines

Who is Eligible to Nominate?
CTY students have a one-time opportunity to nominate teachers as an SDB fellow. If you have previously nominated a teacher, please allow other students to exercise this privilege (special note).

Guidelines for Students
To nominate a teacher, you'll fill out a form and write a short essay.

In order to save your work, you must have Adobe Acrobat 8 or above

Once completed, save both forms in electronic and hardcopy formats.

Nomination Form -  To complete the nomination form, you will first need to consult with the teacher to acquire information required for nomination. Confirm you have spoken with the nominee by checking the box at the bottom of the form. The person nominated can be your current or former teacher.

Essay Form - Write an essay of no more than 250 words describing the teacher’s contribution to your experience as a highly able student.

1. State the grade level and subject in which the teacher contributed to your growth as a highly able student.

2. Be sure to include classroom examples of this contribution.

3. Check your spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

4. Essays should be typed and double-spaced.

5. At this time, please do not share your essay with the teacher. At a later date, a copy of your essay will accompany the teacher’s certificate of recognition.
