Career Guidance

Students contemplating their long-term educational and career goals are in the midst of a complex process of self-assessment and exploration. The staff of CTY’s Diagnostic and Counseling Center can facilitate this process by giving young people a greater understanding of their personal strengths, how they like to learn and handle challenges, and the kinds of professional environments they may one day find most rewarding. Our experience with highly able youth enables us to offer advice that is especially tailored for bright, motivated students.

In the Academic and Career Guidance service, a student completes a set of personality and interest inventories in the privacy of his or her home. The Diagnostic and Counseling Center staff then prepare a personalized written report profiling the student’s strengths and weaknesses and discussing how those factors may affect their academic and career choices. Supplemental resource materials for further career exploration are also included with the report.

Academic and Career Guidance is available by mail, and the fee for this service is $195. Individual one-on-one consultation (either in person or by phone) is available for an additional fee.

If you would like to have your child participate in the Academic and Career Guidance service, please download and complete the ACG registration form and return it to our office.
