CTY financial aid comes in various types, depending on the program and need. - Fees for Talent Search participation and test registration may be reduced if a student is eligible for reduced or free lunch. Application for this type of aid is made at the time of the Talent Search application and test registration. School certification of eligibility is required.
- Tuition for Summer Programs may be reduced if a family demonstrates need through appropriate documentation.
- Tuition for CTYOnline may be reduced if a family demonstrates need through appropriate documentation.
- Fees associated with the Diagnostic and Counseling Center may be reduced if a family, in dialogue with DCC staff, demonstrates need.
These various types of financial aid are sponsored either by CTY resources - referred to as CTY Scholarships - or by specific sponsors, including individuals, families, foundations, and corporations - referred to as Named Scholarships. Among the Named Scholarships, one deserves special mention because of the comprehensive nature of the scholarship. - The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Young Scholars Program selects from across United States each year up to 50 exceptional 7th grade qualified applicants as Young Scholars. Each Young Scholar receives academic services designed to meet his or her individual educational needs and achieve his or her highest potential during high school. This support may continue for multiple years and may cover the costs of educational programs beyond CTY programs. For further details and application materials, please see our JKC Young Scholars Program page.
For the names of other Named Scholarship sponsors, see Supporting CTY. CTY also makes a distinction between need-based financial aid and merit-based financial aid. With the exception of one Named Scholarship for Summer Programs – the Kershner Scholarship - all CTY financial aid is need-based. Families apply for the Kershner Scholarship by checking the appropriate box on the CTY Older Students Financial Aid Application found in the Older Students Catalog. Families will be considered for other Named Scholarships as they meet the criteria established by the sponsor. Where additional materials are needed, such as a student essay, CTY will request such materials from students.
