Individually paced courses: Tuition for individually paced courses in math, computer science, and science (below the AP level) except Intro to Forensics is based on the amount of time selected. Students who complete a course with five or more business days remaining in their enrollment may use the extra time to begin another individually paced course. Students who have not completed their course when their enrollment time ends may pay to re-enroll for more time.

3 months tuition $ 690
6 months tuition $1,325
9 months tuition $1,900

In addition to the 3, 6, or 9 month options, students who are extending their enrollment to finish an individually paced course may apply for a 1 month extension for $235 (tuition), plus the $15 Application Fee discussed below. The application fee may be wiaved if the student's enrollment period has not yet expired at the time the student applies for an extension. The 1 month tuition option is only available to students who are extending their enrollment in an unfinished individually paced course. The 1 month extension is not available to students who are enrolling into new individually paced courses.

Fees for all courses:

$15 Non-refundable Application Fee is required for all applicants, including those who are extending an individually paced enrollment
$15 International Fee per course is required for all students living outside the United States (If the cost of shipping materials outside of the United States is above this amount, the excess cost will be charged directly to the student's account)
$25 Late Application Fee, for session-based courses only
$25 Course Change Fee. (Effective Jan 1, 2012). Course changes are generally not possible except when CTY determines that the student should be placed at a different level, in which case the fee is waived. If a course change is requested for another reason, and the change is approved by CTY, the course may be changed, but a $25 change fee will be applied. [Qualified students are encouraged to register at
https://ctyjhu.org/surveys/placement/math.cfm to take free math and computer science and technology placement tests to help determine appropriate course placement. Contact ctyonline@jhu.edu to request placement test if uncertain about which CTYOnline foreign language course would be the most appropriate place to begin.]

Full payment of tuition and fees must accompany the application. Payment may be made by check, money order, MasterCard, or Visa. Students may enroll only after all past due balances are paid (including balances from other CTY programs). Payments are applied to oldest balances first and then to current application requirements. Applications cannot be processed without payment and will be returned.

Refund policies and procedures:

Parents and/or guardians can receive an 80% refund of paid tuition by submitting a written withdrawal request that is received by CTY no later than two weeks after the course start date, provided that software and course materials (if provided by CTY) are returned in satisfactory condition. The application fee is non-refundable. Refunds take approximately four to six weeks to process, or longer, pending receipt of the courseware. Send withdrawal requests to ctyonline@jhu.edu

Students who withdraw or fail to participate after the two-week withdrawal period has passed do not receive refunds.  Students who violate the Student Code of Conduct may be withdrawn from the program without refund.

Note about textbooks:

Some courses require the separate purchase of a textbook or other course materials. See the specific course description for details. Other materials, however, are supplied by CTY. If your course requires a textbook, please order it well in advance of the start date to be sure the student is equipped to begin.

Note to students enrolling in individually paced courses:

Students who complete a course with five or more business days remaining in their enrollment may use the extra time to advance into another individually paced course to complete their enrollment period. There is no charge to advance into another individually paced course as long as students have five or more days remaining in their enrollment after receiving their grade for the previous course; in some courses, however, students may be required to purchase a textbook (see individual course description). Under this individually paced system, students are enrolling for all the coursework that they can complete within the enrollment period, even if that extends beyond the specific course for which they originally registered. Students who have not completed their course when their enrollment time ends may pay to re-enroll for more time.

Financial aid:

A long-term goal of CTY is to enable all qualified students to participate regardless of the family's economic circumstances. Financial aid is available to students whose families demonstrate financial need by submitting the CTYOnline Financial Aid application with a copy of parent(s) most recent federal tax return. Students requesting aid must submit the financial aid application along with the CTYOnline Program Application (with required tuition deposit) at least 30 days before the course start date. If hardships exist in paying the deposit, applicants must contact the Financial Aid Office at (800) 393-6095 PRIOR TO submitting the applications. Failure to abide by these policies will delay the application.

Each student may apply for financial aid for only one session-based or flexi-paced course or, in the case of individually-paced courses, for one three-month period, per fiscal year (starts July 1). Financial aid eligibility beyond this is based on previous satisfactory student performance, a complete written request for continued assistance, and available funds; however, there is no guarantee of additional aid. Financial aid for CTYOnline courses does not affect Summer Programs' financial aid eligibility.

Financial aid is not available to international students. If a student is not a United States citizen, documentation of permanent residency is required. Financial aid is also not available for families with outstanding CTY account balances. For more information, visit www.cty.jhu.edu/financial/distance.html
