Dr. Thana Jarjour learned Arabic as a native language. Her teachers discovered her gift in Arabic writing when she was ten; and soon her articles and poems were published in the local newspaper. She was also recognized as one of the top five students in her city after playing a leading role in educational competitions.
Dr. Jarjour enjoys working with gifted students in CTYOnline, and uses her varied education and experiences to develop a class atmosphere that makes learning Arabic an enjoyable and exciting journey. She has a thorough knowledge of Arabic countries and their culture and speaks several Arabic dialects with the fluency of native speakers. In addition to her work helping to establish the CTYOnline Arabic Language Program, she has taught elementary and middle school classes in Maryland, and established an Arabic school for children in Washington, DC. In Pennsylvania, she established and directed preteen and youth clubs for Arabic immigrant students to help them adapt to a new culture. She works as an Arabic Translator and Interpreter at Lincoln Intermediate Unit, New Oxford, and serves as a simultaneous translator at various Arabic conferences. Dr. Jarjour has earned a Ph.D in Administration, a doctorate degree in Dental Surgery with a minor in the Arabic Language, and other certifications including English as Second Language, Web Page Design, Internet Specialist, and Desktop Publishing. She has earned several awards including All Star Coach, Certificate of Excellence, and Excellence in Leadership.
