Grades 2 - 6 Qualifying verbal or math score and successful completion of Chinese for Elementary Students,Basic Part Il or equivalent Visit our textbook web page
Chinese for Elementary Students, Intermediate level, Part I is for young students who want to hone their Chinese speaking and listening skills, as well as continue increasing their reading and writing abilities and grammar skills. Students become familiar with Chinese characters and vocabulary so that pinyin is gradually omitted in the textbook during intermediate level classes. Conversation topics based on daily life include the student's shopping, birthday, daily routine, and clothes. The course keeps a fun and interactive approach with course materials, thus encouraging young students' positive attitudes towards language learning. The Chinese culture related to the topic is integrated into each lesson and reading materials. The main focus is on recognizing main characters without pinyin.
Students interact with the instructors and other students using Internet-based software. Course materials include a textbook and a workbook purchased separately by the student. Biweekly interactive virtual online sessions are held in the evenings (both EST and PST). A school's need to hold daytime sessions for its students will be honored whenever possible. Separate conversation sessions between each student and the instructor or teaching assistant are arranged individually. 12 weeks
