Academic and Career Guidance

Students contemplating their long-term educational and career goals are in the midst of a complex process of self-assessment and exploration. The Academic and Career Guidance program can facilitate this process by giving young people a greater understanding of:

  • their personal strengths
  • their learning  and personality style
  • the kinds of professional environments they may enjoy

Our experience with highly able youth enables us to offer advice that is especially tailored for bright, motivated students.

In the ACG service, a student completes a set of online personality and interest inventories:

  • The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
  • The Strong Interest Inventory
  • An Interests and Self-Perceptions Inventory developed by Diagnostic and Counseling Center psychologists

After the assessment is complete a student receives a personalized written report profiling the student’s strengths and weaknesses and discussing how those factors may affect their academic and career choices. Supplemental resource materials for further career exploration are also included with the report.

The fee for Academic and Career Guidance is $275. Individual one-on-one consultation (either in person or by phone) is available for an additional fee.

If you would like to have your child participate, please download and complete the ACG registration form and return it to our office or contact us with questions.
