Frequently Asked QuestionsWhen do courses begin and end?
CTY's distance math and computer science courses are individually-paced, and students can request to start at any time of the year. They enroll for a period of time ( 3, 6 or 9 months), and can work at their own speed under the guidance of their instructor. If they complete a course with enrollment time remaining, they can advance to the next course. If they do not complete the course, they can re-enroll for additional time. Courses in writing, and all AP courses except AP Calculus are session-based and have specific start and end dates. Writing courses are offered in fall, spring, and summer sessions. AP Courses (except AP Calculus) are offered in an academic year format which begins in September and ends in late April, just before the AP tests are scheduled. Many (but not all) AP courses are also offered in an intensive format during the summer. How do I know what programs and courses I am eligible for?
Use CTY Eligibility Assessment form if you have test scores for SCAT, PLUS, or SAT-I, or check the table showing cutoff scores and eligibility guidelines. You should also check the course descriptions since many courses have prerequisites. Students who qualify in the quantitative area of the appropriate test are eligible to take courses in math, computer science, or the sciences, while students who qualify in the verbal portion can take courses in writing, humanities, or social science. How do I apply?
Apply online or download the application, fill it out, attach a copy of the appropriate score report(s), and mail with your payment the address below.
