CTYOnline - Chinese for Elementary Students, Intermediate, Part II

Open T Grades 2 - 6
Prerequisites: Qualifying verbal score and successful completion of Chinese for Elementary Students, Intermediate Level, Part I, or equivalent
Session Based

Intermediate Part II of Chinese for Elementary Students is a continuation of Intermediate Part I. Students will strengthen their speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar skills. Conversation topics are based on daily life, such as visiting a friend, making phone calls, eating, talking about the weather, and writing a diary. By the end of Chinese for Elementary Students, Intermediate Parts I and II,  students will have been introduced to a vocabulary of more than 440 words and phrases and 140 written characters. Successful completion of Chinese for Elementary Students, Intermediate Parts I and II prepares students for the higher level of Chinese language study. The main focus is on practice with an emphasis on character writing.

Online courses are held twice per week, and separate conversational sessions with instructor and teaching assistant are arranged with each student.

Students interact with the instructors and other students using Internet-based software. The course materials include a textbook, workbook, and CD-ROM.

The tentative schedule for online interactive sessions is not yet available.

Separate conversation sessions between each student and the instructor or teaching assistant are arranged individually.

Course Length: 12 weeks
