Grades 2 - 6 Qualifying verbal score and successful completion of Chinese for Elementary Students, Part I or equivalent
Part II of the Chinese course for young students continues the emphasis on everyday spoken Chinese, and the introduction to Chinese language and culture. Students will continue to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. By the end of the two-part course, students will have been introduced to most of the important grammatical structures of spoken Chinese and a vocabulary of about 700 lexical items. With the language skills acquired during this course, students should be able to survive most of the simple daily conversational situations. Students interact with the instructors and other students using Internet-based software. The course materials include a textbook, workbook, and CD-ROM. The tentative schedule for conversation practice sessions is:
Monday and Wednesday, from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm (EST); or Tuesday and Thursday, from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm (WST). This schedule may be adjusted in the future. 12 weeks
