Grades 7 - 12 Qualifying verbal score and successful completion of Beginning Chinese, Part I or equivalent 0.5 credit
The second part of Beginning Chinese enables students to learn how to talk about quotidian activities such as school, afterschool activities, birthdays, dating, making telephone calls, going on interviews, reviewing for exams, etc. In the process, students will learn not only the language, but also learn about real daily conversations spoken by Chinese people in mainland China. This course still has a strong focus on grammar, listening, reading, and writing, in addition to the introduction of culture. Successful completion of Beginning Chinese, Parts I and II, prepares students for the second year of Chinese language study. Students interact with the instructors and other students using Internet-based software. The course materials include a textbook, workbook, and CD-ROM. The tentative schedule for conversation practice sessions is:
Monday and Wednesday, from 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm (EST); or Tuesday and Thursday, from 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm (PST). This schedule may be adjusted in the future. 12 weeks
