"Nowhere else could you walk through cafeteria tables and hear middle and high-schoolers discussing the political atmosphere in Russia at one table, the ethics of vegetarianism at another, and different ways to construct hydrogen chains at a third." - Ben, CTY student CTY’s founder, Dr. Julian C. Stanley, was a pioneer in the field of gifted education forty years ago when he initiated the Study of Mathematically Precocious Youth at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Stanley’s work transformed the education landscape for gifted children and endures today as the essential core of worldwide research in the field. Inspired by the words of poet John Greenleaf Whittier, "Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, 'It might have been," Dr. Stanley’s consuming mission was to cultivate and inspire the academically gifted to achieve their full potential. With your support, CTY continues to fulfill Dr. Stanley’s mission to serve some of the most promising young scholars of our day. Your contribution extends scholarship opportunities to qualified students and ensures that the benefits of CTY are accessible to greater numbers of qualified students regardless of financial circumstances. CTY is a 501 (c)(3) organization. You will receive a receipt for your contribution for tax purposes. You may make a gift to CTY right now, using a credit card and our secure online giving form. Giving Opportunities include: Individual Gifts Individual gifts provide scholarships to qualified students from low income families to attend summer programs or participate in online courses. Eligible students typically come from families with incomes of less than $50,000/year. You may also designate gifts to support cutting-edge curriculum development, technology and professional development for CTY teachers. Endowment Gifts Endowment gifts are investments in perpetuity and provide both immediate financial benefits and long term financial security. An endowment gift to CTY can be named in honor or in memory of a person of the donor’s choosing and may be directed to particular regions and/or academic areas of interest. It costs $100,000 to name an endowed fund, which may be pledged over several years. Planned Gifts Planned gifts include assets other than cash or securities. Examples are life gifts through which your assets are transferred while you or a designated recipient retains the income; bequests; and charitable lead trusts through which you can receive income, make a gift, and save on estate taxes. |
